Inner Rotor Design
In an inner rotor design, the rotor is located in the centre of the motor and the stator winding surround the rotor. As the rotor is located in the core, rotor magnets do not insulate heat inside and heat get dissipated easily. Due to this reason, inner rotor designed motor produces a large amount of torque and validly used.
Outer Rotor Design
In outer rotor design, the rotor surrounds the winding which is located in the core of the motor. The magnets in the rotor trap the heat of the motor inside and do not allow to dissipate from the motor. Such type of designed motor operates at lower rated current and has low cogging torque.

Rotor
The rotor is the rotating part of the motor that contains permanent magnets. These magnets create a magnetic field that interacts with the stator's magnetic field to generate rotation.
Stator

In outrunner BLDC motors, the rotor surrounds the stator. These motors tend to have higher torque and are often used in applications like RC vehicles and drones.
● Inrunner Motors
In inrunner BLDC motors, the stator is located inside the rotor. These motors typically offer higher speed and are commonly used in applications like industrial machinery and electric vehicles.
● Axial Flux Motors
Axial flux BLDC motors have a unique design where the magnetic flux flows parallel to the axis of rotation. These motors are known for their compactness and high power density.

Control Methods of BLDC Motor(Robot Vacuum Cleaner)

Square-wave Control
Square-wave control uses Hall sensor or sensorless estimation algorithm to obtain the position of the motor rotor, and then commutates six times in the 360° electrical cycle according to the position of the rotor (commutate per 60°). The motor outputs a specific direction force at each commutation position, so it can be said that positional accuracy of the square-wave control is electrical 60°. In this control method, the phase current waveform of the motor approaches the square wave, so it is called square-wave control.
Sine Wave Control
Sine wave control uses the SVPWM wave and outputs the three-phase sine-wave voltage, corresponding current is sinusoidal current. In such a control mode, there’s no concept of commutation as the square-wave control, nor it thinks that infinite commutations have been occurred in an electric cycle. Obviously, sine wave control has smaller torque ripple and less current harmonics than the square-wave control, its control is more "exquisite". However, it has higher performance requirements for controller than the square-wave control, the motor efficiency can not be maximum.
FOC Control
Sine wave control realizes the control of voltage vector and indirectly realizes the current control, but it can not control the direction of current. FOC control can be regarded as an upgraded sine wave control, it realizes the control of current vector, namely realizing the vector control of motor’s stator magnetic field.
How to Maintain BLDC MOTOR(Robot Vacuum Cleaner)
Keep motor clean
